This is, we feel, the crème de la crème of Stratocaster replacement necks - one of the most luxurious necks that money can buy - and extremely rare and unusual at the same time. Bound necks were offered by Fender for an extremely limited time as a custom-order during the early-1960s and at a very high premium - this is our own reissue of those infamous and rare necks, you will be very hard-pressed to find this type of neck anywhere at all, and especially not at this sort of price.
The back contour matches closely with the well-known slim 1960s and we've included a 12" radius fingerboard to keep string-choking to a minimum and fast-playing to a maximum. The dual-action truss rod is at the headstock for quick and easy access and adjustments on the road, and the finish on the back is nitrocellulose rubbed down by hand to a satin sheen.
We are, as far as we know, the only company in the world to offer this special satin treatment - the nitrocellulose is cut back by hand using no power tools in the process to avoid inconsistent finishing, this leaves a perfectly smooth satin finish which allows the hand just to glide straight over.
This isn't a finish we offer very often purely for the huge amount of work that has to go into it, but for these particular necks, it just makes them all the more special.
All of the wood we use in our workshop is carefully hand-selected for individual tonal properties and beauty and absolutely always comes from sustainable sources. The maple used in this neck is of the highest quality with some really beautiful and vivid figuring - even the photographs don't do this justice.
Continuing the high-quality and playability theme, we use Jim Dunlop 6105 nickel frets, which is the same hard-wearing fret wire used on the Deluxe USA Fender Stratocasters and Telecasters. This, combined with the exotic woods, 12" radius, and nitrocellulose leads to an extremely comfortable and fast-playing neck, making string-bending an absolute breeze. It also looks absolutely stunning.
The headstock is left completely blank for you to add any logo of your choice (please be aware that we will not and do not apply Fender logos to our necks, nor can we supply them), and the heel is left undrilled to ensure a perfect fit with your instrument. A cut bone nut is included, although this can be removed upon request if you have something else you would rather use. We have also incorporated our own dual-action truss rod system. No dirty adjuster marks on the side of the heel (as some other manufacturers use), just a fully flexible, adjustable truss rod that will keep your neck straight, sturdy and your guitar in tune long after many of our competitor's necks have warped and been assigned to the bin.
This would be the ideal starting point for that guitar project that you have been promising yourself since last summer - all you need is a suitable guitar body and you're halfway there. There are some beautiful Mahogany bodies that would look great with this neck, as well as a wide selection of two-piece alder bodies in Fender Custom Colours.
We can also additionally provide a relicing service for this item if you aren't happy doing such things yourself yet still want a true used vintage appearance, just contact us to find out more!
Please note that this is not a Fender product, nor is it made in a sweatshop in the Far East by children getting paid 10p a day - it's much, much better than that. Like all our items, it has been carefully hand built to exacting standards and dimensions to ensure the highest possible quality, and the perfect fit for Fender, Squier and 98% of the Fender-copy market. We comply directly with Fender's own neck pocket dimensions (see the diagram on the left), although there may still be a small amount of work necessary to ensure a perfect fit.
If you have any doubt over whether any of our work is suitable or not for you, drop us a line, we're always happy to help.
This neck has been left undrilled at both the heel and headstock (apart from machine head holes) to ensure maximum compatibility with anyone and everyone's needs: you can fit it to a three-bolt or four-bolt body, you can use one or two string trees, and you can use any type of machinehead you desire without having holes to refill or build the rest of your guitar around.
